The Heady (or Headless) Days of Summer

Okay, so first of all I forgot it was Friday and I was totally planning out how I was going to write this post this afternoon so it could go up tomorrow. BUT. It's Friday now. So it must go up now.

Except . . .

There's nothing in my brain yet to post. I was going to, you know, percolate today. Let the synapses rat-tail-snap my braincells into wakefulness until they came up with something brilliant.

But, I'm just feeling toooooooo languid for that. Like, I need to be in a hammock over the water in Fiji.

Or lounging in a Scottish highland:

Or doing this again:

Note the Wolverine-like hair-do of fabulousness. Brought to you by the winds of Oceanside.

*Sigh* I need Summer to get into full swing. With a schedule. Or all I'm going to do every day is sleep and wish I were in all of these places. Instead I am going to work my guts out and see if I can't do something to move me toward going to these places. Like finish a book. And get an agent. And sell a couple of them. Books, not agents.

All interspersed with snow cones, and barbecues, and writer's group, and campouts, and family field trips. And oh yeah, a whole LOT of this:

Yep. Hangin' wit my Weebs. We have three whole Webelos in our den, and they killed me off on this hike. Even though it's on a paved trail. Even though it looks like I killed them off. Trust me. Trashed. Den. Mother. But they're so stinkin' cute, we'll probably take them out again.

'Kay. Enough rambling. What are your plans this summer? What cool new thing are you going to do?

I'll be back Monday with something a bit more blog-posty. Meantime go have yourself some Haagen Dazs 5 Mint ice cream which they did not give me a free one for recommending. Then lie (lay?) on your grass and read or write a book. Hope it's lovely!

My greatest pleasure in life has been raising my four excellent children--some of whom liked me so much that they keep coming back. My second greatest pleasure has been doing whatever I can to make people laugh and create bright moments. I hope to do a bit more good in the world before I go the way of it. And if not, I'd better at least get to spend some serious time writing and singing in a castle somewhere in the UK.

  1. I have one big goal for the summer: Get all the photos off the hard drive on our dead computer. That’s all. It’ll probably take me until the last day of August.

    • Yeah. I’ve got a storage room goal like that. I just didn’t want to post it on here and make it a reality. Good luck with your photos!
