I Love You. Goodbye.

I knew you were going.

It's been clear

For a year

As you slowly became an angel.

Your white hair dancing upward

In lighter-than-air tufts.

Your smile,  your eyes, your heart–

Everything lifting toward heaven like it couldn't get there fast enough

to see those who'd left you

before.

But, like an angel,

You stayed. For us. Who needed you too.

Thank you.

And now so much of you has turned into light

And grown wings

You might just as well take flight;

For I don't think our holding onto you can keep you here anyway.

You are too good.

And we need to learn to live without you

To become that good too.

Farewell.

I love you.

Have fun.

(like

always)

My greatest pleasure in life has been raising my four excellent children--some of whom liked me so much that they keep coming back. My second greatest pleasure has been doing whatever I can to make people laugh and create bright moments. I hope to do a bit more good in the world before I go the way of it. And if not, I'd better at least get to spend some serious time writing and singing in a castle somewhere in the UK.
