Lunch, With A Little Background Music

Hi there!  It’s the middle of the day. You’ve been up working all morning, cleaning the house, putting up decorations, wrapping presents, or playing video games. You must be exhausted. And hungry. Here, let me share our lunch with you. It’s from the B&O Café in the Capitol Hill district of Seattle:

Lynn’s choice – Salmon Farfalle with lemon dill cream sauce. Mighty fine. And light.

Mark’s choice – Corned Beef Hash, with fried potatoes. Done perfectly. And I learned that corned beef is the result of a long and arduous process combining roast beef with salt and cornmeal and letting it age. There are not, in fact, little herds of corned beef running around the countryside.

My choice – Egyptian Ful Medammes. Fava bean dip, smoked and served with fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, dill pickles and hummus (all inside the dip), and a side of toasted pita bread points. Delish. And very healthy and protein-rich.
And all of that comes from the same place. What a varied menu! For dessert there are chocolate eclairs, creme bruleé, and lemon curd cake. Which of course have a negative calorie content.
And now for your background music. Do play this while you eat. It’s short, so eat fast (this is the last bit of a piece Mark was playing for the midweek meeting at the13th Church of Christ, Scientist here. It didn’t occur to me until the end to record him. And clearly I had not yet figured out the whole turn-the-phone-sideways-to-film-thing yet. But you get the general idea of how beautifully he plays. I hope.) :

Enjoy. And have a lovely day.
With love,

My greatest pleasure in life has been raising my four excellent children--some of whom liked me so much that they keep coming back. My second greatest pleasure has been doing whatever I can to make people laugh and create bright moments. I hope to do a bit more good in the world before I go the way of it. And if not, I'd better at least get to spend some serious time writing and singing in a castle somewhere in the UK.
