Loving Seattle and the rain and the singing with my brothahs. Took a long walk this morning. Click below to join me for part of it. You might want to take motion-sickness pills first though – turns out I’m not an epic film maker. You do get an idea of what Seattle is like. In an earthquake. And with anorexia. (I figured out when I got back that I could turn my phone sideways and get a wider picture. Too late. Sorry for the vertical letter-box-anorexia-ness of it.)
There was a lot of sniffing (chilly out), wheezing (out of shape blogger. not to be confused with jogger. at all.), and gum chewing (general crassness).
For you who are motion-sensitive, here are some stills of the same walk:
Apparently Noe is big here. (I usually spell it “Noah”, but “Noe” works) You can see why, with that lake in the background. You’d build an ark too if it rained all the time and you lived on a lake. (Never did see the ark though. Just a white wooden “L”- shaped thing laying in the grass.)
Walking uphill. Everything is uphill. The only thing downhill is the lake, and everything runs into it. Including anyone who walks down this hill too fast.
Trees. In someone’s yard. I remember trees. I used to think I’d never see a poem as lovely as one of them.
And I was right.
Isn’t that a nice corner? It looks fake, doesn’t it? Perfect green grass. Languid weepy trees. Perfect imperfect asphalt. Nice bit of pine needle strewn soil. Looks like Disney made this.
And this. The butterfly gate. Nice bit of whimsey. This is the right wing (it’s a Republican. You can tell by its vast right-wing conspiracy).
And here is the left (leaning liberally on it’s hinges). Love those little iridescent globes in the eye pattern.
And here’s the whole thing (clearly a centrist after all). Laurie Linn Miller, are you out there reading this? You need to paint this butterfly gate design on something, honey.
Entrance to the neighborhood I will live in next time I move here.
My future house.
No, wait! This one. This is my future house. Gorgeous, yeah? Reflection in the glass is hiding the Christmas tree from view, but it is perfect.
Or maybe that’s my house. The one with the tree . . .
Yeah. Seattle is a lovely place with lovely people. Maybe if I move here Frasier Crane will have me sing on his radio show.
In the meantime I’m thrilled to be singing on Crescendo’s show, with Lynn and Mark Andersen. Basking in their talent. And their trees.
Hope your day is peaceful and tree-filled.
🙂
