Do. Or Do Not.

So, I was trying to be inspirational and I posted like 15,000 quotes about never giving up (see below), and I started reading back through them a few hours later and I TOTALLY GAVE UP. Like, I could not get through them. Who wants to read a big fat quote list about not giving up? It’s exhausting. Just get out there and live, people! Live I tell you! Don’t read quotes on blogs! Finish that book! Paint that picture! Learn how to swim! Or run a marathon! Just take the first step, and then the next one! That’s it! Quotes are awesome but they’re stuffy as snot and there’s nothing empirical in sitting there and reading them. Or in my case, sitting there and finding them. Because spending an hour finding quotes about not giving up is like spending an hour thinking about not thinking. Maybe. I don’t know. But I think the quote finding was an avoidance technique, and I’m done with it I tell you! Done!

I’m off to DO something now. Catch you out there.

(Although, the quotes are pretty darn good.)

My greatest pleasure in life has been raising my four excellent children--some of whom liked me so much that they keep coming back. My second greatest pleasure has been doing whatever I can to make people laugh and create bright moments. I hope to do a bit more good in the world before I go the way of it. And if not, I'd better at least get to spend some serious time writing and singing in a castle somewhere in the UK.
